The Philippines SRA delegation visited Tanegashima

A delegation led by Mr. Pablo L. Azcona, Administrator & CEO of the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA), Department of Agriculture, Republic of the Philippines, visited the Tanegashima to observe sugarcane-related industry practices there and discuss with local stakeholders involved in sugar production. On day 1, they visited the Tanegashima Research Center of National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO) and the Owaki Farm to learn about and exchange views on the differences in agricultural practices between Japan and the Philippines. On day 2, Shinko Sugar Mill Co., Ltd. hosted the delegation and introduced its technology and systems, including the trash removal process, quality measurement, and bio-ethanol production. The delegation was impressed with the system and efficiency of the sugar production practices in Tanegashima and reaffirmed their commitment to promoting collaboration for sugarcane-related life cycle research under the MOU signed with UTokyo IFI and RCAST on March 21, 2025.
